So what is all the hub of iPhone / iPad photography? Well I decided to take my new iPad out for a spin at Jacobsburg Park in Belfast, pa. It’s Amazing! Don’t get me wrong, it is not pro quality nor would I ever consider trading my camera for it, I just see the attraction. Nice screen with instant gratification.
Revisited: I have uploaded the images to my computer and while they looked great on the iPad, on screen… It was well disappointing. The images lacked color and contrast. The images proved my point that there is no good cheap camera. While it is a great point and shoot option with apps that can make it powerful. But I don’t see it as a professional solution as some make it out to be.
So today is the release of the new iPad. Am I going out to fight to be the first? Hell No! But I am going to look at the new screen today. I have wanted a tablet for a while now and have settled on an iPad. Question is pick up a cheap or used 2 or splurge on the 3. The most important thing for me is the screen so that is the deciding factor.This page serves as a place for me to put images that I can test out on both screens. The difference between an amateur and a pro photographer is in the eye.An amateur will see a nice setting and take a picture. The pro is willing to find the perfect picture.
Last night I was picking up my daughter from play rehearsal and the sun was setting with this amazing purple sky. Yes it was purple last night. I grabbed the camera out of the back seat and took a picture. It was a nice picture of the sky, but it lacked composition.I assessed the setting and where the composition was going to be best considering I only had moments to get the shot. I thought what a great back drop to the school! I rushed over to the front of the building, took a couple shots and got back in time for my daughter. The picture is currently unedited there are a few things I want to go in a fix but here is the photo.

I look at other works of photography and I might see a lot of digital enhancement and my reaction is they are not a photographer, they are an artist using a digital medium. I will landscapes and flowers but then I wonder what I might do with them… of course they are nice nut they will just sit in my computer.
I start to look around and say done that… done that… am I just to familiar with my surroundings? I see other photographers trying to do what I have already done. So I have trouble defining myself. So what is it I love to do? Well my favorite part of a shoot is capturing images I know the client will love and I LOVE seeing their face when they see it. I guess you can say I love sharing my work. More importantly sharing things that are important to the viewer. That is why I love shooting weddings and portraits.
when shooting portraits i do not focus on the portrait, I focus on the imagery. Edgy backgrounds, different looks, changing the point of focus and watching where the eye follows. Great composition not the “this is how a portrait should look”. I stretch the boundaries and show people in a way they never thought they could look.
March 21st, 2012 is G&K Photography’s Third Anniversary! That’s right most small businesses fail in the first 3 years and creative based companies are even much higher than that BUT
